Donate or Ride: Support Our Healthcare

Folks again this year I am riding for Tour de Guelph and other fine community projects.

TdG has been running for some years and has raised a $1 million or more for local projects and most importantly for the Guelph General Hospital.

Of course, it is not secret to anyone that hospitals and health care are previously underfunded and that is compounded by the requirement that local donations cover equipping hospitals. This means machinery that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars must be raised by communities like Guelph. Even the equipment in a maternity ward must be paid for with local charitable donations, municipal tax dollars, or a combination of both.

I am appealing to all of you on this BCC to consider supporting me again this year.

Last year, I raised over $3000.00 with the generous support of the community. I am at it again with a more modest goal of $2000.00 but I hope I can get to $6000.00.

If you could consider a small, or if your finances permit, a larger donation, it would truly be appreciated. Of course, you might be doing your own ride or have a rider to whom you donate. If you do, thanks for being part of the healthcare solution.

If you want to ride with me, please join in. I head out to West Montrose on a designer route – straight there and back, a total of 42 km. I welcome all kinds of riders on all kinds of bikes: electric, graphite, titanium, those with banana seats – even scooters are welcome. We go slowly and upon arrival at the covered bridge we don’t kiss, we celebrate with hard-boiled eggs, cheese, carrots, and a refreshment of your choice – whatever you can carry. It’s casual and fun and the company is great.

If you got a useless Facebook Messenger message from me, I apologize and blame both me and Facebook. Social media technology is beyond me.

Yours in community
